Offered by the Maricopa County Department of Public Health, a free, six-week series on Healthy Living is perfect for anyone who lives with a chronic health condition such as arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer or chronic pain. The program begins on Jan. 16 in the Centennial Room at First United Methodist Church, 5510 N. Central Ave.

The focus of each class helps individuals manage their illness more effectively. Some of the topics include speaking with your physician, dealing with emotions, goal setting, understanding medications and much more.

The class will meet from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays, Jan. 16, 23 and 30 and Feb. 6, 13 and 20. Pre-registration is required by calling MaryAnn Brown at 602-571-4058. Enter the parking lot from Missouri Avenue.
