Phoenix residents can show their support of local businesses—and hobnob with local bands—during two special events slated this month to promote a “local” focus.

First up is The Phoenix Independents Bowl, set for 12 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at independently owned Let It Roll Bowl, 8925 N. 12th St. Dozens of teams comprised of Phoenix’s best independent bands, independent businesses, and independent-minded citizens will compete in a bowling tournament featuring live musical performances.

The tournament will feature teams of four comprised of members of local bands, music venues, local businesses and local fans competing for fame and glory. Each team will bowl no less than two games before advancing to a play-off bracket to find a winner. Cost is $20 per bowler and includes shoe rental and bowling. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The proceeds of the event will benefit Local First Arizona. “We love the vibe at Indie Bowl. Not only is it fun, but it’s a great coming-together of what Arizona should be proud of—our community of talented musicians, unique business owners, and the people that support them,” says Helene Tack of Local First Arizona.

The Phoenix Independents Bowl is brought to you by Psyko Steve Presents and Local First Arizona. Visit www.phxindiebowl.com for more information and registration.
