Kinesphere Center for Movement Education, 711 E. Missouri Ave, Suite 180, hosts a four-week class aimed at strengthening a woman’s body for before and after birth, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 5, 12 & 26, and Oct. 3. The class is geared toward pregnant women, women planning to become pregnant, postpartum women, and birthing professionals.
Modern living has made the physical act of giving birth more difficult for many women. Today our lives are filled with more sitting and less natural movements than our ancestors. This has resulted in a reduction of birthing space in the pelvis.
This four-week series is geared toward increasing the birthing space. By building awareness of one’s movements and postures during daily activities, the pelvis may increase its diameter and build the strength needed to support it through pregnancy and birth. Special attention will also be given to all of the body parts involved in squatting such as feet, knees, hips and abdomen.
Cost is $60 for all four weeks (includes a half-dome for continued self care at home), or $20 for drop-in. To register, call 602-532-3111 or e-mail Lisa.Perry@kcme-az.com.
