Lifeboat Coffee, founded online in 2013 as retailer of premium coffee beans, has opened its first store at 536 E. Dunlap Ave., in Sunnyslope.

Open at 5 a.m., Lifeboat serves locals as well as commuters on 7th Street. Selections include drip, iced and espresso coffees, as well as chai, hot and iced teas plus steamers and hot chocolate. Lifeboat Coffee also is proud to feature locally prepared baked goods, including muffins, scones, cookies and baked doughnuts. Bagels, raised donuts and more will be added soon.

“We’ve worked very hard to bring a great, high-class coffee shop to the neighborhood,” said owner/skipper John Lillis.

Lifeboat Coffee Store No. 1 is located in the historic Tony’s Deli Plaza at the northwest corner of 7th Street and Dunlap Avenue and is outfitted with comfortable couches in a café area, a big screen TV, high bar tops with USB outlets, free Wi-Fi and a shipping center where you can purchase and ship—for free—your favorite coffees anywhere in the United States.
