Activities aren’t slowing down this summer at the Sunnyslope Senior Center, 802 E. Vogel Ave. New additions to the schedule include aromatherapy and a diabetes self-management workshop.
Learn about basic aromatherapy, including the types of essential oils and how to use them safely, 10 a.m. Fridays, Aug. 3-31. Class size is limited to 15 people, advanced registration required.
A workshop titled “Diabetes Can Be Confusing” takes place 9 a.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 28, uses plain language so all can understand. Class size is limited to 15 people, advanced registration required.
Special events include Off to the Races at 10 a.m. on Aug. 8, featuring horseracing games and country music—wear your best Derby hat. There also will be a Pet Therapy presentation 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, presented by Pets on Wheels.
For those with an artistic inclination, Reader’s Theatre begins 9:30 a.m. Aug. 30, and continues on Thursdays through Sept. 15. Members will work together to read a script to a play. Drop-in, space is limited.
Jewelry Making is making a return on Aug. 8. Members will learn beading and wire-wrap techniques to create their own jewelry pieces. Classes are at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, through Sept. 12. Drop-in, space is limited.
