If you are thinking about a career in the financial services industry, you might want to apply for a free training program offered by the nonprofit organization A New Leaf.

A New Leaf BankWork$ is a free, unpaid training opportunity that prepares participants for a job in the financial services industry. New classes start Jan. 14 and take place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays over eight weeks at A New Leaf’s Workforce Development Office at 4520 N. Central Ave.

Students can prepare for a pathway to a new career as they learn about banking professions including operating cash drawers, sales and customer service skills. They also learn common language-terminology and skills needed in the financial services industry and workplace readiness and interviewing skills. Students will have the chance to apply for jobs and interview with A New Leaf’s partner banks before the end of the eight-week program and A New Leaf supports them as they transition into new roles.

If you would like to be considered for the next classes, you must apply at www.turnanewleaf.org/services/financial-empowerment/bankwork.html.
