Local Realtors are helping make the community greener through a donation of $5,000 to purchase trees.

The trees will help beautify part of North Central Phoenix (submitted photo).

The 180 members of the North Central Realtors Tour made the donation to the North Central Phoenix Homeowners Association as a way to further beautify the area. Realtor Sam Miller said he grew up in North Central Phoenix and wanted to support the community. He and the other Realtors heard about the need for more trees from the homeowners association.

“This is the area that we work,” he said. “We walk the walk. We talk the talk. This is our territory and we want to help keep it beautiful for generations to come. I went to Central High School. We had been saving all year for it and we just knew this was a wonderful thing to do.”

Miller said people had walked in the North Central Realtors Tour area and “thought trees were sparse” and wanted more greenery. On the tours, Realtors visit neighborhoods in the area the first and third Fridays of every month to see homes and what is new in the industry. They see up to 12 houses per tour and provide feedback to the listing agent and seller.
