If you have a green thumb, want to learn some plant-growing tips or hope to spruce up your home with something living the Hawk Salvage Plant Swap will be a great destination on Sunday, Oct. 17.

Hawk Salvage, which sells vintage, reclaimed, industrial, antique and unusual items, along with many rare and unique house plants, will hold its first Plant Swap from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day at 1109 Grand Ave. Participants can mingle with other plant lovers and bring home some new greenery for homes or office spaces.

Each guest must bring at least one live, healthy plant or rooted cutting to trade for another plant or clipping of equal size. Hawk Salvage will set up planting stations and provide soil to use for a fee of up to $10, depending on the plant’s size. There will be live music, artist demonstrations and food trucks at the event.

Greg Hawk a retired Phoenix Fire Department captain and a self-proclaimed picker, founded Hawk Salvage. What began as a hobby turned into a passion for finding lost, historical treasures.

Hawk Salvage is typically open from noon to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from 2 to 6 p.m. Sundays with expanded hours around the holidays and First Friday events downtown. Check out its items on Instagram @HawkSalvage. To learn more, visit www.hawksalvage.com.
