Take a tropical getaway while staying in North Central by sipping on one of the new mocktails and feasting on Impossible Burgers at Hula’s Modern Tiki.

The restaurant, located at 5114 N. 7th St., recently added Hula Juice, Castaway Cooler, Orgeat Lemonade and Captain’s Colada, which are non-alcoholic “mocktails,” to its menu.

You also can make these mocktails at home. For the Hula Juice, combine one and a half ounces of pineapple juice, orange juice and cranberry juice and one ounce of Passion Fruit Puree into a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a glass, then top with ice and garnish it with cherry and orange.

To create the Castaway Cooler, combine one and a half ounces of orange juice, one and a half ounces of pineapple juice and one ounce of pomegranate syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain the ingredients into a mai-tai glass, then add fresh ice and top with ginger ale.

Hula’s also now features the Impossible Burgers, which do not have meat but are made from plant-based products, including a Hawaiian-style Loco Moco dish, which is a patty on a bed of rice with brown gravy that is topped with a fried egg.

Hula’s Modern Tiki also has locations at 5450 E. High St. and in Scottsdale. To learn more, visit hulasmoderntiki.com.
