After taking 2021 off, the Willo Historic District Home Tour and Street Fair returns for its 33rd year on President’s Day weekend.

Built in 1942 and renovated several times, this Mission-style building on 7th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard served as the City of Phoenix Fire Station #8 until 1978. Still owned by the city, it is now on the National Register of Historic Places. You can see the fire station as part of the 2022 Willo Home Tour (photo by Diana Herman, Monte Vista, from the forthcoming “Willo Photo Book — Architecture and History).

“This unique neighborhood tour welcomes you into some of Arizona’s finest historic homes representing a variety of styles: Tudor, Spanish, Bungalow and more — dating from the 1920s through the 1940s,” said Teresa Fontana, co-chair, Willo Home Tour 2022. “In addition to the home tour, the street fair will feature vendors, artists, local food trucks and live music.”

The Home Tour and Street Fair is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to nine beautifully restored historic homes and the historic fire house at 541 W. Encanto, a street fair featuring local vendors winds down Monte Vista and Holly Roads. The Street Fair opens at 9 a.m. There will also be live music, food trucks and a beer and wine garden.

Parking is available at the parking garage located at 1st Avenue and Holly. Visitors are also welcome to park in any available location within the neighborhood, according to organizers. Trolleys will be continually running throughout the day for visitors to hop on and off at their convenience.

Tickets are $20; children 12 and under attend for free. For more information and tickets, visit www.willophx.com/home-tour.
