Phoenix’s LGBT and ally wind symphony, Desert Overture, is partnering with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department to host Hance Park POPS! on Sunday, March 9, at 3 p.m. This free concert will take place at Margaret T. Hance Park, 67 W. Culver St., in downtown Phoenix.

The concert will span a wide range of styles and genres, with plenty of recognizable songs. Music includes melodies from “Wicked,” “Moana” and the Marvel Universe, among other pop selections.

“Our performances often take us to magical places,” said Scott Helms, Desert Overture band director. “This concert will be no different and highly entertaining.”

Desert Overture is comprised of more than 70 musicians. It was formed in 2010 and is an active member of the Pride Bands Alliance, which has grown to 37 member bands across the country, as well as internationally. The group performs several major concerts each year.

Many Desert Overture members played instruments in high school and college and now enjoy producing quality music, along with friends in once-a-week rehearsals. For additional information, visit www.desertoverture.org.
