The Shemer Art Center will host its 40th New Horizons High School Student Art Exhibition, which feature 88 works of art from over 45 high schools across the Valley, through Feb. 13. This year’s exhibition features the top two selected works of art by juniors and seniors attending dozens of Valley high schools.

“This exhibition reflects a wide range of very unique perspectives and techniques,” said Shonna James, president and executive director of the Shemer Art Center. “What we enjoy most is sharing the works and stories created by these students who are able to express themselves through art.”

Since 1984, the center’s mission has been to support and showcase Arizona artists. It is located within one of the first homes built in Arcadia, originally constructed in 1919, and then purchased and donated to the city of Phoenix in 1984 by Martha Shemer. This year, the center is celebrating its 41st Anniversary of serving the city as a visual art destination. All exhibitions, plus the gift shop and sculpture garden, are open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Shemer is located at 5005 E. Camelback Road. Phoenix. For more information about exhibitions, classes and other artist opportunities, visit www.shemerartcenter.org or call 602-262-4727.
