Phoenix Children’s Injury Prevention Department is participating in the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety’s Child Passenger Safety Program during fiscal year 2025. The program provides education and training to encourage safe habits for children in vehicles.

Those in low-income communities or facing other barriers may complete one of Phoenix Children’s child passenger safety courses and receive car seats free of charge. Funding these life-saving educational courses and resources is made possible by Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety’s $30,022 grant.

Upon joining the program, Phoenix Children’s agreed to serve 1,500 families, distribute 506 car seats, provide 24 car seat education classes and training sessions to the community, conduct four child passenger safety technician trainings, and provide mentoring to community partners.

“Reducing pediatric injuries is a top priority for us,” said Steve Schnall, senior vice president and chief development officer at Phoenix Children’s. “Our goal is to make Arizona a safer place for families, and initiatives like this are crucial in moving us closer to that vision.”
