Cashen Realty Advisors announced in April the sale of the Pruitt’s Furniture retail property, located at 3401-3425 E. Thomas Road, for $11,000,000. The buyer in the transaction was 35th & Thomas Partners.

In its 2010 book, “Midcentury Marvels: Commercial Architecture of Phoenix, 1945-1975,” the City of Phoenix Historic Preservation office described the building, which was built in 1966: “What do you get when French Colonial Revival collides with Classical Revival? … Why, Pruitt’s furniture store, of course!”

The six-acre property was approved for rezoning (case # Z-18-23-8) by city council Dec. 6, 2023, to allow a mixed-use multifamily community featuring up to 310 dwelling units, 58 feet in height, with 6,000 square feet of ground floor retail/restaurant space.

According to an April 10 press release from Ray Cashen, the property will be developed “over the next 36 months.” The developer, Aspirant Development, did not respond to our request for a timeline or updates on the project design.
