Happy New Year, North Central neighbors!
As we enter 2026, our cover stories are both looking back and celebrating a bright future ahead.
In “Preserving a library and a legacy,” we take a look at how the Acacia Library has served the Sunnyslope community since 1969 and a new movement that is underway to preserve the building for the future. I have fond memories of this library: I got my first library card there, and my daughter hers. Our story is not unique – generations of residents have relied on this library and the hope is that it will continue to serve them for years to come.
Another Sunnyslope-centric story celebrates the positive work that can be done when a community comes together. In this case, nearly a dozen local businesses teamed up to provide time, effort and money to refurbish a vehicle for Cleo Lewis so that he can continue the work that his ministry does in the neighborhood. It is just one example of how many hands, working together, can make a difference. We hope to tell more of those stories in 2026.
In addition, you will find more news from our North Central neighbors, businesses and schools, along with updates from the city of Phoenix, our adorable pet of the month and a wide variety of things to do in Phoenix.
As always, we encourage you to reach out if there is a great North Central story that needs to be told. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy our January issue, and until month, all my best,
