First Congregational Church’s annual Pet Blessing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the church, 1421 E. 2nd St.

This year’s event features three Congregational ministers conducting benedictions for all types of pets. For the first time, clergy will also bless children’s stuffed animals.

Several animal rescue organizations and suppliers of goods and services for pets will staff tables in the garden like church courtyard.

Pastor James Pennington will offer an introductory message. People and pet refreshments will be served. Participation is free and open to all, and includes a Certificate of Blessing with a photo of the pets and pet parents.
