Rosa Phoenix Art Studio in Sunnyslope offers a six-week drawing class for teens ages 12-18, on Saturday mornings from Oct. 17 through Nov. 21. The class will meet 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and is taught by Tricia Wang, who founded Rosa Phoenix Art Studio in 2014 because she saw a need for art education resources in Phoenix, especially for beginners.

Since the studio quietly opened in November 2014, Wang and other local artists have taught art classes for adults. The studio also hosts events and artist group meetings.

Wang is happy to offer a class for teens and hopes to be able to teach more classes to young people. After teaching a teen drawing class at Revival Art Collective in downtown Phoenix in 2014, Wang was saddened to learn that only one out of the 10 students in her class had art instruction in school, and some had never taken an art class before. She then realized how few opportunities exist in Phoenix for teens to learn visual arts.

“It’s essential for everyone to express themselves creatively,” says Wang. “It’s so important for teens to have an outlet to explore their emotions and ideas.”

Some materials will be provided and the cost of the class is $115. The class is suitable for all levels of ability and experience. Rosa Phoenix Art Studio is located at 8686 N. Central Ave., Suite 128. Parents may register their children at http://www.rosaphoenix.com/art-classes.
