Members of the public are invited to exchange their sugary foods for free produce from the Uptown Farmers Market, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. The market is located in the east parking lot at North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central Ave.

The Sugar Swap event, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, will encourage residents to make healthier food choices, by offering $5 in Homegrown Healthy bucks, good for fresh produce, in exchange for sugary food items containing more than 7 grams of sugar. Artist Kristine Kollasch will be onsite using the packaging from the Sugar Swap donations to create a one-of-a-kind art installation that offers the message, “Healthier Arizona.”

The event aims to educate Phoenicians about the impacts of sugars on their health while encouraging healthier food choices that include local, fresh produce. For more information, visit http://nourishingarizona.com/sugar.
