Longtime Valley family-owned company Maloney Plumbing is back in business, after having sold the company two years ago in a merger with Hayes Mechanical.

“It was something that I did not want to do and the last thing I ever envisioned,” admitted Kathryn J. “Kitty” Maloney Langmade, whose father, Duke Maloney, started WJ Maloney Plumbing from scratch over 50 years ago when he moved to the Valley from Idaho. Duke’s specialty and success were with large, hi-rise commercial construction projects. Buildings that he worked on include the Camelback Esplanade and Collier Center.

Duke passed away in 2006, and Kitty worked hard to sustain and grow both the commercial construction and service divisions of the company. One of the company’s last big jobs was the Terminal 3 renovation.

Due to a downturn in the economy and other circumstances, Kitty sold the company on April 6, 2016 to Hayes Mechanical, a large mechanical contractor headquartered in Chicago. “Although this was one of the saddest, most difficult periods of my life, it turned into one of the happiest when provided the opportunity to purchase back the service division with the help of generous investors,” she explained.

“I have acquired back the company name, phone number, my service trucks and equipment. I am starting over from the ground up. Having always wanted to focus on residential and commercial plumbing service and repair, I now have the opportunity.”

Joining her in the new Maloney Plumbing is her husband Drew, and a strong team of skilled, qualified plumbers.
