If you have a child or teenager being treated at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital facilities, you need to know there are changes in visitation because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

Only two primary caregivers are allowed to accompany a patient at any Phoenix Children’s location at a time. Everyone else, including siblings of patients under 18 years old, may not visit patients in the centers at this time.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital is working closely with state and local officials to communicate vital information about the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and the respiratory illness (Coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19) caused by this virus. While SARS-CoV-2 is not the same as SARS or MERS-CoV, genetic analyses suggest this virus emerged from a virus that is related to SARS, according to the hospital’s website.

Dr. Kelly Kelleher, Phoenix Children’s medical director for Patient Safety and Quality, and a girl shared tips on staying safe on the hospital’s website. They said to cough and sneeze into your elbow and to wash your hands in warm water with soap. To learn more, visit phoenixchildrens.org.
