A North Central husband and wife who are co-founders of a winery are helping to feed people in need.

Benovia Winery and The Anderson Family Foundation recently donated $10,000 to St. Mary’s Food Bank. Joe Anderson and his wife, Mary Dewane, are co-founders of the winery, which is located in Sonoma County, Calif.

Benovia created a Pinot Noir called Courageous Care, for which a percentage of the proceeds from the sale were given to St. Mary’s Food Bank and The Anderson Family Foundation matched that contribution.

Courageous Care Pinot Noir commemorates the late midwife Margaret Foley and pays tribute to everyone who is fighting the battle against COVID-19. Foley was Anderson’s great-grandmother, who served as a midwife during the diphtheria epidemic in 1892. She treated families who suffered during that healthcare crisis and lost five of her children to diphtheria.

The 2018 Courageous Care Pinot Noir can be purchased for $40 per bottle at benoviawinery.com.
