Those caring for someone who has dementia can learn tools and gain support through Hospice of the Valley.

The non-profit organization provides presentations on the “Heart and Science of Dementia Care” to groups in person or via Zoom free of charge. Discussions include the most common types of dementia, behavioral expressions that people with dementia make, mindfulness meditation for caregivers, tips for meaningful engagement with those who have dementia and many other topics. To schedule a presentation, contact Barbara Hawes at bhawes@hov.org or at 602-776-6867.

Hospice of the Valley also offers a Supportive Care for Dementia program at no cost to families that assists patients who are at any stage of the disease. To schedule a dementia educator to visit your home, call 602-530-6920. You also can obtain advice or help over the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by calling a nurse or social worker at Hospice of the Valley at 602-636-6363.
