The Phoenix City Council elected District 4 Councilwoman Laura Pastor as vice mayor during the Jan. 5, formal Council meeting. This is the second time that Pastor has been elected vice mayor. Her first term began on March 1, 2017.

Pastor was sworn in as the District 4 Phoenix City Councilwoman in 2014. She is the current chair of the Economic Development Subcommittee and serves on the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Planning Subcommittee. She has served as a member of the Encanto Village Planning Committee and is a former member of the Hispanic Advisory Board of Maricopa Community Colleges, the Homeless Task Force, the Maricopa Transportation Advisory Board, and Phoenix Day.

A fifth-generation Arizonan, with a background in public education, Pastor also serves as a current member of the Phoenix Union High School District Governing Board, where she has been a strong advocate for strategic planning and participatory governance.
