Brenda Lopez

Local housing nonprofit Trellis announced the appointment of long-time executive Brenda Lopez as permanent president and CEO, effective Jan. 1. Lopez has been serving as interim president and CEO since July 2024.

Lopez served as chief homeownership officer at Trellis since 2013, where she led a robust homebuyer education program in the state. The nonprofit says that thousands of Phoenix-area families have benefited from the financial education classes, home ownership counseling and down payment assistance that she and her staff have organized and led over the past decade.

In addition, she has led the agency in one of its most impactful programs in recent years: providing down payment assistance to over 120 new homeowners in the last seven months through the Arizona is Home program, funded by the Arizona Department of Housing.

In 2025, Lopez will be focused on two major projects: constructing new affordable single-family homes on vacant lots in the Garfield neighborhood near downtown Phoenix, and breaking ground on a multi-family affordable home ownership project as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Choice Neighborhood Program located in the Edison-Eastlake Park neighborhood east of downtown.
