The Children’s Museum of Phoenix, located at 215 N. 7th St., has embarked on a $23.5 million capital campaign, called the Power of Play, that will fuel what they are calling the most ambitious expansion in the museum’s history. When complete, this transformation will rank the Children’s Museum of Phoenix among the largest children’s museums in the United States.

The five-year project will renovate and expand more than 27,000 square feet of unused and underused space of the museum’s historic building, ultimately activating all 80,000 square feet of interior space. Plans also include the addition of 10,000 square feet of new outdoor, active-use space, giving Phoenix families even more room to explore, learn, and discover year-round.

Updates include four to six large-scale new exhibits focused on early childhood development, character skills and fun; fresh outdoor play environments – perfect for Arizona’s beautiful fall, winter and spring seasons; a high-quality, museum-integrated preschool in partnership with the Valley of the Sun YMCA; a cooperative Early Literacy Learning Center with statewide partners; enhanced ADA accessibility so every child and family can participate fully; and expanded amenities for visitors, members and school field trips

Phase One of construction kicked off in April. The museum plans to remain open and active throughout construction. For more information, call 602-253-0501 or visit www.childrensmuseumofphoenix.org.
