Girl Scouts in North Central Phoenix and around the Valley are getting a boost and a chance to participate in holiday activities this season.

The Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council (GSACPC) at its recent gala raised $280,000 to benefit Girl Scout programs in the state. This money will help girls in troops around Arizona include the 1,196 girls in troops in North Central Phoenix.

Girl Scouts are invited to participate in a Junior Biology Patch Workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Arizona Science Center at 600 E. Washington St. They will learn about the human body, exploring DNA, blood cells and the digestive system. Adults have to register with each girl and it is not a drop-off event. The price ranges from $5 to $20.
