Duet: Partners In Health & Aging will have a volunteer orientation on Wednesday, Aug. 18, for those who want to help homebound adults in North Central and around the Valley.
The orientation will take place at 2 p.m. in the Mariposa Room with a HEPA air filtration system at the Duet office at 10000 N. 31st Ave. Those who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 do not have to wear face coverings but anyone who is not fully vaccinated must wear them.
There are 56 homebound adults who are waiting to be matched with compassionate volunteers, as of press time. Volunteers assist homebound adults, many of whom are senior citizens, with grocery shopping, by providing transportation to and from medical appointments, by offering friendly visits and delivering other support.
Wendy Cohen, senior director of volunteer services for Duet, said that in addition to providing needed transportation the volunteers also offer connection to isolated adults. Volunteers also can drive seniors to and from their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.
Volunteers set their own hours. Duet matches them with adults who live close to them and the volunteers can work a few hours a month during the day, evening or weekend.
Call 602-274-5022 or email volunteer@duetaz.org or visit http://duetaz.org/volunteer to register for orientation.
