The Arizona Kosher Food Pantry, located at 7118 N. 7th St., is currently facing a financial crisis that threatens to shut them down within the next seven days, according to the nonprofit’s office manager, Yanna Sayag.
“I’m reaching out with an urgent plea to save the Arizona Kosher Food Pantry, the only resource of its kind in the Southwest,” Sayag told us. “Due to a recent billing change from APS, our electricity bill has soared to $8,169.54, with a payment deadline of July 28. A deposit fee of $5,228 was added to our account because of multiple overdue bills – making it impossible for us to continue operating without immediate support.”
“We are working very hard to clean up our debt created by old management,” she said, adding that if this bill is not paid in full by the deadline, the pantry will be forced to close.
Over 300 families – including single mothers, children, Holocaust survivors and struggling seniors – depend on the food pantry every single day for access to nutritious, kosher food. In a time when basic groceries have become unaffordable for so many, the pantry is often the only safety net they have left, Sayag added.
“We’re asking you to help save the Pantry – and, more importantly, to help save lives. Please consider making a substantial and sustaining donation today. Your generosity can make the difference between despair and hope, hunger and nourishment, for hundreds of your neighbors. This isn’t just about electricity. It’s about survival.”
